Part-Time Connecticut-area Communications Coordinator for Thought Fox Writers Den, a writing center and writing-related artisan retail space located online and in-person at Stonington’s historic Velvet Mill. Work is 50% in person and 50% remote and pays $15 an hour for approximately 10 hours a week, plus competitive writing-related benefits. TITLE

Communications Coordinator

SUMMARY

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and logistical support to Thought Fox Writers Den and occasionally to director Lara Ehrlich. This role is crucial in helping the director efficiently manage the day-to-day tasks of running Thought Fox; the coordinator should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills.

ENVIRONMENT

50% in-person work at the Thought Fox Writers Den at the Velvet Mill in Stonington, CT & 50% virtual

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Support

Manage the schedule, including appointments, meetings, and deadlines. Handle email correspondence, responding to inquiries and flagging important messages. Distribute collateral. Input data into spreadsheets or databases and maintain records.

Project Management

Establish and maintain various project management platforms, including Airtable, Trello, Slack, and QuickBooks. Participate in specific projects, such as class planning, marketing initiatives, and tabling at events. Hosting occasional drop-in writing events and open-mics. 

Research Assistance

Conduct research on various topics as directed, including background information for writing projects, guests for panel discussions, press lists, potential donors, etc. Compile research findings into organized reports or documents.

Website Maintenance

Add events to the website and keep information up to date.

Social Media

Post daily on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and engage with followers. Help create and schedule content.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Communications, Marketing, or a related field–or currently studying these areas in college.

  • MUST be able to work on site at the Den at least 50% of the time
  • Proven experience in administrative roles or as a personal assistant.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, WordPress, Canva or InDesign (or other design programs), 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and online marketing.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A passion for writing and a genuine interest in the work.
